History of enterprises and industries

A teaching programme

Since 2016, the « History of Enterprises and Industries» programme, set-up within the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Fribourg, has led to the following achievements:

  • Bachelor's and Master's courses in a variety of fields, ranging from the historical method in working with entreprises archives to the history of watchmaking, the history of Swiss entreprises in Asia, etc.
  • Organising six themed public mini-colloques on the history of entreprises, with the participation of students, guest professors and lecturers from various European universities.
  • Establishment of a cooperation agreement between the universities of Fribourg and Osaka in the field of contemporary history, enabling Master's level students to spend one or two semesters at one or other of the partner universities.
  • Six days of documentary studies in the archives of the Longines entreprise and CEJARE, as part of the Bachelor's course devoted to entreprise archives and their processing.
