History of enterprises and industries
A teaching programme
Since 2016, the « History of Enterprises and Industries» programme, established at the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Fribourg, has led to the following achievements:
- The development of Bachelor's and Master's courses in a variety of fields, ranging from historical methodologies of working in company archives to the history of the watchmaking industry, the history of Swiss companies in Asia, etc.
- The organisation of six themed public mini-colloquiums on the history of businesses, involving students, guest professors and lecturers from various European universities.
- The establishment of a cooperation agreement between the universities of Fribourg and Osaka in the field of contemporary history, enabling Master's level students to spend one semester or two semesters at the respective partner university.
- The conducting of six days of documentary research in the archives of Longines and the "Centre jurassien d'archives et de recherches CEJARE", as part of the Bachelor's course on company archives and their processing.
