Teaching through the senses

The department of special education at the University of Fribourg, at the forefront of teaching and research in its field, is developing new methods to improve the nutritional care of people with autism. People with autism tend to focus on a particular type of food, which leads to compulsive eating problems.

Researchers at the University of Fribourg collaborate with institutions and organizations active in the care of people with autism in order to create appropriate care methods. It is about finding ways to teach people with autism to eat healthy, taking into account their specific needs.  The aim is also to train the accompanying staff and to ensure that the methods developed can then be applied in the welcoming institutions.
